Art Gardner, a Republican patent attorney seeking election to the U.S. Senate in Georgia, has recently proposed a reform to the nation’s patent laws to address the artificially high price of prescription medicines in the U.S.

He ignores the overwhelming problem -that the patent system has become a tool for large invention thieves enabling them to rob and crush their small would be competitors. Patents are too slow, hard and expensive to get and enforce -unless you’re a huge corporation, the same ones who have been buying these laws that destroy the patent system by making it a sport of kings. Until things change inventors -like Stradivarius, will increasingly protect their discoveries as trade secrets, or where not possible take them to their graves.
